Benjamin Hafner, arch.

Born on 28.07.1978 in Ljubljana. Seven years he attended Elementary School at Rodica. At the same time he have studied with a professional artist Vera Terstenjak (drawing and painting). His works have been already then a part of many public exhebitions. While in Kamnik High School he was given a scholar ship for talented students. The year 98//99 he enrolled at the University of Arcitecture of Ljubljana.

Doing the first year of the University studies he worked closely with professor dr. Aleš Vodopivec. The third year he became a demonstrator to students doing thair seminars.
That year he received the third prize and honorable mention on the general public anonymous single stage competition for the acquisition of conceptual solutions market and its looms in Kamnik and the third prize in collaboration with prof. Aleš Vodopivec for design solution of Secondary Medical School Celje. In the fourth year in 2002/2003, he was among 100 students from Europe, along with ten students, selected in an international competition for light International Workshop “Lichteinfall” in Coburgu in Germany. There, he won first prize. During summer holidays he began to study law in the office of Thomas Krušec,MA. As an associate in the office he received the second prize in the competition for Residential property in Izola. In the ninth semester of the academic year 2003/2004 as a colleague he was awarded second prize in the competition for Central Music and Ballet School in Ljubljana and the first prize for the Interior of the Year for Pilates Wellness Center in Ljubljana. This year he was nominated for the Student Award Piranesi for Craft zone Polhov Graz, which he made at the seminar.
In 2005/2006, he began producing a thesis titled »A New Concert Hall and Exhibition Space France Bernik Cultural Centre in Domžale«. He graduated in the month of June 2006. For the thesis he in March 2007 received International Recognition – 6.Trimo Research Award.

After graduating he became a technical assistant of professor Aleš Vodopivec at the Faculty of Architecture (University of Ljubljana) and started the design work in the studios. In 2007/08 he was with prof. Vodopivec received an award at the International Competition for the Elderly home Hodoš, in 2008/09 first prize in the competition for Commercial and apartment buildings in Bohinjska Bistrica, 3. prize in the competition for Urban architectural solutions for residential housing in the area Kromberk – Boršt, a medal in the competition for the Renovation Kolezija relax. Recently he launched a design of his own light collection, he works on his own and cooperate with architects and studios.
